It’s been a scorcher of a week – both in terms of the weather and in the world of politics ☀️
To try and dig deeper into a “Best PM” analysis, we used a MaxDiff technique – a way to measure preferences to asking respondents to choose a most vs least preferred from a random list – and the results were enlightening.
The Top 3 “Best” PMs were all from Labour
- The Top 3 “Best” PMs were all from Labour
- One Conservative in the Top 10 (Penny “The Sword” Mordaunt)
- One LibDem also in the Top 10 – Sir Ed
- Nigel creeping into the Top 5
- And current PM, Rishi Sunak, just outside in 11th place
The 22 names were picked in a totally unscientific way.
Only 17% of Reform voters agree with Nigel Farage that the West provoked the Russian – Ukraine invasion
WeThink asked Reform voters do you believe the cause of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine was:
- The decisions of Putin: 61%
- The actions of the EU and NATO: 17%
- Something else/Don't know: 22%
We also asked respondents if Nigel Farage becoming an MP and getting into UK parliament would be beneficial or detrimental to UK politics. Almost two thirds of the British public believe that it would be detrimental.
- Beneficial: 31%
- Detrimental: 37%
- Neither/Don’t know: 33%
The Tory Betting Scandal
Now, into the murky waters of the Tory betting scandal. We asked, do you think the Gambling Commission should or should not release all the names of election candidates implicated in the Tory betting scandal before the 4th July general election?
- Yes it should: 64%
- No, it should not: 15%
- Don’t know: 21%
We asked if candidates standing for election should be allowed to place political and / or election related bets - an overwhelming majority said no.
- They should be allowed to place bets: 14%
- They should not be allowed to place bets: 72%
- Don’t know: 14%
