A new WeThink poll reveals a staggering 60% of Brits think homeless people are not getting the help they need to return to society. 

Only 23% said rough sleepers are getting the necessary support while 18% said they didn’t know. The pollsters posed the question after broad wording in the Criminal Justice Bill suggested homeless people may be arrested for “smelling excessively”. 

WeThink also found that nearly half of people (48%) said homelessness was a problem in their area, rising to 60% in London.

Nationally, Wales had the biggest challenge with homelessness with 51% saying it was a problem compared to 49% in England and 42% in Scotland.

Labour increased its lead by a couple of points to 21 this week while Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s approval rating hit its lowest at –30.
